Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Employer discrimination and unfair treatment

It is actually my sister who I am asking for. She is in Northern Florida. She works for an old folks home in her area. She has worked there about 5 yrs. Recently a new company bought the facility and sent in some of there own employees. One of which is my sisters new boss. The problem is this. She does not wish to quit, she needs the job. She feels her boss is continually giving her a bad time to get her to quit, so the company will not have to pay unemployment to her. The boss has even gone as far as to introduce someone to my sister that will take over her position when she leaves. The circumstances have gotten so stressful that my sister has had to seek medical care for her nerves. I don't know that this is covered by existing harrassment laws, but it seems to me that such a thing is harrassment and unfair to someone doing thier job, just because the company has changed hands and someone wants to hire friends or such. Pls reply if you can direct her for help in this area. Thank you.

Re: Employer discrimination and unfair treatment

This may or may nor be illegal harassment but either way your sister should make a formal complaint to management in writing. That way if she is termination she will have proof of her complaint.

Unfortunately, there is not much more she can do at this point unless the harassment is based on race, gender, etc.
