Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

my job didnt pay me the hourly rate i was hired at

the job i was recently employed at hired me at 12/hr but i NEVER saw 12/hr i only got payed 6.40/hr (6.15 minnumim pay rate in fl)and was promised 12/hr after i bought this to the manager attention now they terminated my job and refusing to give me the money they owe me ...can they do that and what can i do to get my money from the company

If they paid you at least the minimum wage required by Florida or federal law--which are different amounts--then the payment at a lower rate than you had expected is likely not unlawful. What you specifically complained about is important to understand in determining what other rights you may have, and if for example, you worked hours (or overtime) for which you were not paid, there may exist other violations, so please consult with an attorney to ascertain what rights you may have.

Do you have anything in writing or witnesses that will demonstrate that you were supposed to get $12 per hour. Then maybe you have a claim for the difference betweeen what you were paid and what you should have been paid.
