Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

To Break a Lease Agreement

My daughter recently moved to Tampa area and rented an appartment. She was working over there and her job transfered her back home. The problem is the place where she is renting says there is no way to break the lease unless she finds someone to sublease her appartment. (Which she has tried to do unsuccessfully) Is there a way to break this lease agreement?

RESPONSE: You will need to consult counsel but your daughter may have a potential claim against her employer based on promissory estoppel. Otherwise try and negotiate with the Landlord for an early termination penalty in exchange for giving up the leased property. Good luck!
