Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

landlord harassment

i rented a place from an absent landlord.when i moved in he hadnt set foot in the home in some years.the place needed alot of work, and being desperate i took it.in january of 2008 (my lease was up in nov never renewed)we didnt have the rent so i told him i would leave and even help find a new tenant.i did.in lieu of rent for jan,we installed a nearly new dishwasher, stove, refridge, microwave, disposal, repaied hole under sink, and installed a chandelier, amonst other small repairs.the new tenant gell thru and he has called my employer and told my boss he is calling child services on me.2x,keeps calling my mother, aunt, sister, and sent me a vile letter how my son would suffer for my stupidity.we agreed to be out june 1sr,but couldnt get out until the evening, and he agreed to a prorated rent for the 2 weeks we were there.i paide first and last and an a 875$ security.does he have the right to call my family or employer or threaten me with child services?he claims the apt was trashed, despite the new kitchen and usual wear and tear.on top of it he insisted on cash, and is now killing my credibility and saying we stayed there 6MOS rent free!!!i took several pictures before and after.what can i do???i have moved outta state

Re: landlord harassment

Nothing to do unless he does something. Don't let him know where you have moved. It is unlikely that he will follow up and sue, but if he does, yo have pretty good defenses.
