Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Weary and Disgusted
10 days ago the roof caved in the livingroom of a house I rent (roofer's asst. fell thru a portion of the roof). My lease expires on 01-14-08. My landlord has me & my 2 children in a hotel appx. 20-30 mi. away from house, work and schools - limited public transport. We are in a one bedroom suite (microwave, dorm-sized refrig., 2 full-size beds, 1 dresser/entertainment center, small bth); my house is 2-br, 1 bth, lvgrm, dining room, kitchen, laundryroom. Landlord keeps reserving room for 1-2 days; permit just secured to start work, which requires reroofing entire house. My livingroom contents destroyed $1,800. Because of work, Owner doesn't want us to enter house - hotel room can't accomodate clothing, extras for 3 people. Can I terminate lease - and time limit? What would be repercussions & what about recovering for my damaged property?

yes, you can terminate and seek damages.
