You can generally complete a form indicating your intent not to prosecute, generally both the Public Defender and the State Attorney's Offices have these forms. Additionally, you should contact the State Attorney's Office indicating your lack of intent to prosecute. It is worth noting though that the State does not necessarily have to listen to you and drop the charges. Once they are involved, you cannot simply tell them to stop prosecuting someone. You need to retain a criminal defense attorney for your boyfriend to assist you in this matter. Good luck.
