Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

Cat Bite

My 12 year old daughter was bitten in the face by a cat several months ago while visiting an animal shelter. The insurance company representing the animal shelter has contacted us taking responsibility for the medical bills and said they will make us an offer once they receive and review all her medical records. She was taken by ambulance to the ER. The wound became infected and she had to go the ER for several days for IV therapy. She was very traumatized by this ordeal and is going to have visible scars. Would you advise a lawyer regarding this matter or should we accept any reasonable offer from the insurance company? Also, I would like to know when a minor is involved in a lawsuit, are structured settlements mandatory or can parents accept a settlement on the child's behalf?

Re: Cat Bite

It is hard to define what is reasonable but chances are, the insurance company will not offer full or fair value of the claim unless a lawyer is involved. Call me toll free at 1 866 333 3529 to discuss in greater detail.

Re: Cat Bite

I respectfuly suggest you retain counsel. A court will not permit a settlement without appropriate papers being submitted. The funds will be put into a bank account for the benefit of the child. If scarring is involved this may be a more serious matter than you think. Good luck.
