Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

I fell 30 feet while on the job

I fell 30 feet while on the job and the companie didn't have workmans comp. I have an attorney but feel that I am getting the wrong information is there such thing in the state of florida of having open medical after your case is settled and if i am no longer able to do the work I have done my whole adult life is it thier respnosibilty to retrain me in another profession?
