Don't Know If This Is Consider Sexual Harrassment

I am miserable at work because I had an Always maxi pad put on the lock of my locker and have co-workers send my email address to pornagraphy mailing lists and a fellow co-worker instant messaged me with the word whore because I would not respond to her because her screen name implied that she is interested in the same sex and I am not like that. Is any of this sexual harrassment? I am miserable at work not only for that but because I am bad mouthed in front of customers and none of any of this started until I began dating a fellow employee.

You have raised some issues that make me think what is going on could be considered sexual harrassment. Does your employer have a sexual harrassment policy and have you brought your concerns to your supervisor or human resources department? Check your employee handbook, if you have one, to see what steps your employer has set forth for you to deal with this problem. You may want to look at the EEOC web site, www.eeoc.gov, for more information on sexual harrassment. The web site will also give you information on filing a charge of discrimination, if you feel that is appropriate. Based on the limited information you have supplied I think it may be in your best interests to speak with an employment attorney regarding your situation.

If you have not done so already, you need to document in writing the dates and times of these incidents along with a description and whether there were any witnesses present. Memories fade rapidly, so try to do it as soon as possible and continue to document them as they occur. Also, be sure to inform management in writing of the harassment. One question which comes to mind is how do you know a coemployee signed you up for a porno website? If there are witnesses to this you should also get their written statements as soon as possible.
