Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Florida

Sexual Harrassment in the workplace

I was working at the Gym for about two weeks before my general manager cane up to me and told me that he was interested. He is twice my age and has a girlfriend and two kids at home. Well this went on and i told a personal trainer friend of mine and he went and told the owner of the gym. He sent the director of operations out and he discussed it with me and then he said he was going to take care of it, but he wasnt going to be fired because of it. I have a letter he wrote me of what he wants to do to me and everything- dated. Nothing happened for about 2 weeks or so and while this time was passing he yelled at me and argued with me everyday and treated me really bad. Then finally the moved all the general managers around and he went to another gym..how can i find out if this happened by him at another gym since he came here from being in Orlando, and do I have a worthy case or not? Thanks

Re: Sexual Harrassment in the workplace

You have a right to work in an environment free from sexual harassment. Your employer does have an obligation to take prompt action to protect you. A company is not required to fire an alleged harasser but they need to see that the harassment stops. If things were bad for you only two weeks, then the complaint to management may have worked. If things were bad a long time or if you were retaliated against for making a complaint, then you may have a stronger case. In any event, you may want to discuss this matter with an employment lawyer.
