Legal Question in Social Security Law in Florida

Can i qualify with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia approximately 2 years ago. I was able to work full time until 9-10 months ago at which time I had to cut back to just a few hours per week. I would like to know if it is possible to receive social security benefits under these circumstances.

Re: Can i qualify with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia

Yes. We have had a many clients with fibromyalgia who have successsfully obtained Social Security benefits. It is a disease recognized by the Center for Disease Control and the appeals courts have often criticized the lower courts for failing to give credence to the treating doctor's diagnosis. You should immediately apply for your benefits. I assume your doctor is fully qualified and informed of your condition. Likewise you should seek out an attorney who is an expert in SS Appeals and experienced in representing other clients with Fibromyalgia and CFIDS. You should expect an initial denial of your application.
