Father left no will

When my father died his wife did not come forth with his will so she got everything. He told my mother he left money for my brother and I. My step mother recently died leaving no will. Do I have any rights to her money?

Unless you held something in joint name with your step mother or if she designated you as a beneficiary on a life insurance, pension etc., you probably have no right to inherit any property from a step parent under Florida law.

I do not totally agree with Bob and my response would be quite lenghty, so I ask that you contact me directly. In brief, you may have rights, through your father's estate, to make a claim now. This depends upon the size of his estate, how his assets were registered (individually or jointly with his wife) and other matters that existed when he died. Also, do you have the original Will or a copy?
