Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

My father passed in July. Stepmother has made no mention of a will. I know that several years ago she began liquidating collections, art, real estate, etc.due to a failed business & personal guarantees I know she was motivated to raise cash. I believe she had power of attorney since father was declining. Stepbrother supposedly held a life insurance policy on my father's life & has further been overheard that he's "taking the rest of the year off". I am the only blood child of the deceased. Do I have any rights?

More facts are needed to definatively answer your question, but you could have a claim if there are facts showing that your step family took advantage of your father during his weakend state versus these are mere circumstances.

You would be entitled to half of your father's estate if he died without a will. However, assets such as life insurance or joint assets would not go through probate.

You are close to my office, call me for a consultation about this matter.
