finding a will or probate

Recently I found out that my ex husband had died in Florida,, How do my (grown) children find out if there is a will,, I seen about his death while searching for his whereabouts for Social Security purposes,, and seen he was in Probate,, Have no idea of who to write to about this matter,, We have not been in contact with him in many years ,,Thank You

You kids should hire a probate lawyer in Florida. First, determine if there is a liklihood that he died with property. Also, was he remarried. Figure out if the laws of Florida would give most or all of his money to his new wife, if there was one. Bill Stern

Contact the Circuit Court in the County where he lived. If the will is in probate it will be filed there. Good luck.

If there is a probate estate already opened in Florida, there will be a copy of your ex-husband's Will in the Court file. The Court file is public record. Also, your children should have received notice of the probate proceedings from the executor of your husband's estate. They can obtain a copy of the Will (if there is one) from the Executor.
