Home Health aid as a contractor

I work as a home health aide. I have significant disc damage from two clients over time. I have missed work for the damage and even went to the doctors on my own in the beginning. I was led to believe by the company that hired me to work for them as a contractor that I could not get workmen's comp. Example of this is...

I work for Joeshom Home Health Care, they have the clients. I am a subcontractor (1099)they send to the clients, not an actual employee. Am I covered by Workmens comp?

If you are really an independant contractor, you are not covered unless you personally purchase WC coverage for yourself. The question is, are you really an independant contractor? You should check with the IRS.
