Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia

Company Name

If a company I have worked for has changed their name from Bla Bla Security to Law Law Alarms, can I use a name simular to the first one? I want to use Bla Bla Alarms. Is there a problem for me in doing this? (These are fictious names)

Re: Company Name

The legal name of a company is not the same as a trademark that company may hold with regard to a business name. For example, Subway is a trademark of Doctors Associates, Inc. So, even though the company may have changed its name, it may still have rights in the old one.
