Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia

Car Dealer Fraud

In 2006, I purchased a car from a dealer who financed loans for people with bad credit. It is a 2005 Saturn Ion. They told me that you have to pay the tax on the car which was $1500 and only the amount of the car could be financed. And then after the taxes are paid, the payments start, (434.00 mo). I didnt' find any complaints about the company with the BBB. But I heard later that the owner may have changed the name. The car from what I could see.... it was Ok. The problem is I found out the car was sold to me for 3x for what it's worth. So I'm paying $15000 on a car that's worth less than $3200. Is that legal? What can I do.....and they won't give me the exact amount I owe. So I don't even know the correct pay out. I found out from my brother's co-worker that the owner is an ex-con and has been in jail for fraud before. The bank that they use to finance the car is supposingly owned by him also. The co-worker gets paid under the table by the owner if he brings people in. The real dealerships even question these people and they said that it has too much negative equity. Can I take them to court?? Do I even have a case??

Re: Car Dealer Fraud

Why would you think you could sue for not doing your homework? It is very simple when you buy a car to research the car's value (places like kbb.com). It is also simple to check a dealer out before you ever visit them. You're responsible to read what you sign, where you shop, and to use common sense when car shopping, and no, you can't sue when you fail to do that.
