dual ownership of vehicle
3 months ago my i bought a vehicle($22,000) for my girlfriend. i paid cash for the car(out of my bank account) and we got a dual ownership on the title. she was to make payments to me but never really did. who has ownership of this car? if i wanted to trade this car in, could i without her consent?

Re: dual ownership of vehicle
Who paid for it doesn't matter. If you titled it jointly she owns half. You can't do anything without her, nor can she without you.
If you had wanted a right to take the car, you should have set it up where she signed a proper note with that right, the car was in her name, and you were the lienholder.
That is why you see a lawyer before doing major transactions with other people. Now it's too late.
