Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

So this guy and i dated for three months. We broke up one night when i was plastered and he had sex with me which i have no recollection of. While we were "working on things he bought a 800 dollar puppy that i was with him while he purchased. All of the paperwork loan etc is in his name I didn't sign anything or offer to pay anything. The day i officially ended everything he went crazy and threatened to kill himself which i have a police report documenting texts etc. The day another guy and I began dating he claimed that i owed him 425 dollars based on a "verbal agreement" and that i was liable because HE put my name down as co-owner on a vet paper. No w he wants to take me to small claims court for the dog. Is there anyway this will hold up? I also have texts, voicemails and emails from him trying to get in touch with me many of which include him sobbing about me and my new boyfriend. Among those emails i also have one of a "song" he wrote about how he felt about us and a letter admitting he "wishes he would've been more conscious of how drunk i was that night and never had sex with me at all" All in all he is 24 and I am 19.

You have no legal problem at this time at all. Until and unless he files suit, ignore this. IF he does file suit, respond. Otherwise you have no problem.

The outcome will depend on facts you failed to post. No one can predict that.

Putting your name down on the vet's paper does not mean you are a co-owner of the dog. Since there is nothing in writing, I don't think he has much to stand on. Call his bluff and let him sue. If he does, you can defend the suit on the grounds that you never agreed to be a co-owner and buy the dog regardless ot whether you were present or not. Ask him to present the loan papers (or present them yourself if you have a copy).

And what kind of person spends this kind of money on a dog?
