Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Statute of Limitiations

I Purchased a car in Georgia in 1995 which was repossessed in 1997. I moved to Massachusetts 2000. I received a letter from a Massachusetts Attorney in 2007 stating that he had optained a Mass. judgment against me in 2005 for the debt. Is this a legal process?

Re: Statute of Limitiations

To find out whether the attorney actually obtained an enforceable judgment against you, you should take all paperwork to an attorney.

Most likely, he was awarded a default judgment because you failed to show up or answer the complaint.

You should speak with an attorney in your area regarding how to proceed.

Yes, a lawsuit and judgment is a "legal process."

Re: Statute of Limitiations

I would need to review the actual writ of judgment to ascertain whether the creditor/Plaintiff has a valid and enforceable judgment within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.;))
