Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

my husband is serving a 5 yr without parlole sentence for an armed robbery that took place in 1984. the state of georgia waited 20 some years to pursue the case. he was sentenced in nov. 2007. however, back in 1984, they generally allowed parole for armed robbery cases (they now do not) and the average inmate only served about 2.5 yrs for this particular crime. someone told us you are supposed to be sentenced according to guidelines practiced at the time the crime was actuallly committed. is it possible we could get the parole board to hear his case based on that, and do we need a lawyer to do so? also, i was told he could fight his conviction based on admiral law being unconstitutional. is this true, and if so, how do you go about pursuing that option?

Those are questions he should have addressed at the original trial. If there are questions now, they should be addressed to his lawyer. They are not issues to be addressed on an internet forum.
