Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
If one is on probation for a small crime and has to pay a fee of $1000.00, and the person has no money or asset at all, and is unable to work, age 60. She has no way of getting the money, what does she do. Do they put you in jail? How long? This was for a small shoping lifting charge.

She should discuss that with her lawyer before entering a plea. If she cannot afford counsel, the court will appoint her counsel.

the judge will probably convert the fine to community service. If the person, at age 60, cannot perform any community service, the judge may consider jail.
