Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

My son, a barely 18 year senior in high school was arrested for the sale of steriods to an undercover officer. He lied and said he was going somewhere else when he left the house. I had no idea what he was up to. He drove my car to make the excahnge. He doesnt have one. The state is attempting cival assset forfeiture. They are saying since he drove the car to school sometimes he has propritary ownership. The car isnt even paid for and he is still in school. Can they punish me for his crime by seizing my automobile? This seems extremely unfair and borderline illegal.
