Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

technical probation revocation

I am on probation for a theft by conversion charge which stems from a persoanl relationship with a former employer. I never took an attorney to court or attempted to defend myself due to emotional breakdown that is confirmed by therapist. Anyway, due to that I was placed on 5 years probation and that was later extended to ten years due to restitution payments on $30,000. The employer has since filed professional and business bankruptcy for other reasons - I hear his wife left him. These charges took place in 1998. After these two years they are having a hearing for a revocation due to failure to pay restitution. The hearing is on March 31. I am a single mother who has a very ill daughter with no other place to go and cannot catch up back restitution but could try to pay future obligations. I need to stay out of jail for my daughter. The county says I make too much at $350 per week for an appointed attorney and I do not have cash at this point to hire one. What are my options?

Re: technical probation revocation

You could call the georgia indigent defense committee in Atlanta or Georgia Legal services in Atlanta. You could ask them to re evaluate your eiligibility for the appointed attorney based on yor daughter's illness. Do you have losts of meds? let them know. Do you miss work to take care of her? Let them know.
