Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I have my 17 year old nephew living with me in Georgia. His mother is his custodial parent and she lives in Alabama. She doesn't really want him living with me but is tolerating it since he was doing so poorly living with her.

She places a lot of time demands on him and he is afraid to tell her he doesn't want to do things for fear she will make him return to her home.

Does he fall under the Ga. age of majority (18) since he is living in Ga and going to high scholl in GA or does he fall under the AL age of majority (19) since his custodial parent resides in GA?

Unless you have legal custody, his legal residence is generally the state where the legal custodian lives, meaning Alabama law controls.
