Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

When my children were under age the court ordered my then husband to pay child support. He was always gainfully employed, yet he never cooperated with the court order. I struggled to take care of the children on my own. Now they are young adults. My x husband is now receiving a pension as a retired state worker, which he was employed for thirty -five years. I feel I'm entitled to a benefit portion of his retirement and disability. He was forced into early retirement due to severe illness.

You should have filed a petition for contempt years ago.

Nevertheless, you may still be able to sue him for the back child support.

You will need a certified copy of the child support order to attach to your lawsuit.

Depending on the amount of the back child support, you might consider hiring an attorney.
