Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Contempt on a Comtempt order

I have been divorced since 4/96. I had to take my ex to court in 2/97 and 6/06 for contempt (failure to pay child support). (All cases in Cobb County courts). Now he has moved to Pittsburgh PA and is in contempt again. He currently owes me around $8000.00. My last Order for contempt says that ''if the defendant is found to be in willful contempt in the future for failure to pay health insurance or child support, this court will only grant relieft which includes incarceration of the defendant''. I have also moved to Bartow county.

Could I contact a Bartow County Attorney instead of a Cobb County Attorney and will they be able to handle this in Georgia since he has moved to Pittsburgh PA?

Unless you think he is going to bother to appear in Georgia, it would likely be smarter to hire an attorney where he is.

You need to file the contempt in the county where the divorce was granted. Then you will have to make arrangements to have him served in PA. Consult with a local attorney.
