Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

New Custody Law?

I heard there is a new custody law in georgia that says that a judge does NOT have to take in to account a child's wishes. Is this true?

Re: New Custody Law?

The new custody law gives more weight to a child's opinion as they get older. The court will always review any issues presented to it that may indicate that awarding custody to a particular individual may not be in a child's best interest. Any parent with custody issues should retain the advice of an attorney who will want more information than it is possible to discuss in this non-confidential forum.
