what is the procedure to legitamizing a child

You do need to provide more information as Mr. Ashman indicated, but I can tell you that you will need to file a legitimating claim with the court where your child resides, which might be simple if the mother consents to your fatherhood. Then you need to seek custody/visitation after the child is legitimized.

There is no way to answer you with so little information, as the procedure will vary depending on the county where it is filed and whetherthe mother consents and whether you have reached an agreement with her about support, visitation, medical insurance, custody and other issues. These are things you need to meet with a lawyer about.
