Questins about custody

Well I had a newborn son who was born on Feb,10 2003 me and the girl I had the baby with are no longer together My name is on the birth certificate but she wont let me take him bymyself and she wont let him come to my house. She told me that if I wanted to see him I have to come over to her parents house or the daycare when hes there me, and her are not speaking to each other ahe doesnt want to talk to me....what are my legal rights for my son. She told me if I didint like these terms to get an attorney....please I dont know what to do about this terrible situation.

In Georgia, the father of a child born out of wedlock has no legal right to the child. It matters not that your name is on the birth certificate. The mom does not have to let you visit the child until you legitimate the child. Legitimation establishes your legal rights to the child. After legitimation, you must still file a petition for visitation to establish your visitation rights. Feel free to contact my office for further consultation on this issue.
