Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I currently have split custody of my 2 children. There are no exchange of child support although my ex is $4000 behind in other ordered obligations. Im considering the Navy in which she would become primary parent to the children. My base pay would only be 1467.60 per month. Of course I would provide Health/dental/vision through military, does that have any dollar value on the child support worksheets in Georgia? I must have a child support plan ready before being able to join but she wants to base it off current salary which is $3943 each month but there would be no change in custody until I left for training/duty therefore her idea would leave me without any money almost.

Unless you want to make a complete mess of your life, get a lawyer. I cannot stress that strongly enough.

Georgia does have complex income guidelines for support, which can optionally be adjusted for many things including insurance, visitation and other things, Changes in salary can be factore in, but most judges have a huge problem with what you propose, and that is to deliberately chose to cut your pay.

You can proceed without counsel and have a disaster, or you can pay a lawyer to discuss your plan, whether it is workable, and what the implications for you are.
