Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

My 9 year old son is accused of damaging the bottom corner of a neighbors car door when returning their sons bike. They come back with $600 quotes. It is a very small dent that could have been easily done by opening a car door at the gas station. She is going through a divorce and her husband is getting the car. I think she is just using my son as a scape-goat. Am I liable to pay?
