Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

My husband is incarcerated in coastal state prison ,he sent me a hand written but notorized power of attorney paper ,making me power of attn.over some money that was willed to him the money has been put on a cashers check ,if he made me power of attn. would i be able to cash the check if it was written out to him?
