Legal Question in Immigration Law in Georgia

resident by marriage

Dear Madam/Sir,

I am a green card holder and just married to an asylum applicant. She has got a working permit and social security card. How can she apply green card thru me and how long will it take? She wants to travel out of this country, how can sure that she can come back legally? Do we need an attorney? How much will it cost?

Please advise.

Thank you for taking time on my issue.

Best regards,

Re: resident by marriage

She may be eligible to adjust, but you should opt to have an attorney review the case before filing. Attorneys can assist you in avoiding some of the less obvious pitfalls in the immigration law. Should she be able to adjust her status, she would be given an advance parole to reenter the United States. Given her status as an asylee, however, I would be careful about where she travels. The adjudication timeline varies by district office for these cases and prices vary by attorney.
