Legal Question in Insurance Law in Georgia

How can I collect damges due to a fire where I was living?

I was living in a house that my deceased girlfriend was buying. She had given me her power of attorney stating that I could do what ever I wished with the deed. Due to her illness,we had entered into a chapter 13,under my name in order for her to keep the property. I am still paying the bankruptcy. She passed away 2 years ago. There was a fire at the house 8/2/02 that destroyed almost everything inside the house. Structure is still standing, no roof damage. The insurance company refuses to pay me for anything and wants to pay her children. The premiums and house payments were current through the court.
