Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Georgia

What Can't I print on a T Shirt and sell it?

This is hopefully an easy question, but probably not. Other than the obvious obscene, what can't I print? Who do I contact to use image rights? I was under the impression that as longs as the original image has been altered or modified that the new ''image'' would be safe for production without legal ramifications. thanks for the time.

Infringement can be tricky: E.g. Andy Warhol's famous painting of a Campbell's soup can.

Some companies have multiple in-house counsel who do nothing but review potential image and design production for copyright and infringement issues. I would be happy to address more specific questions, but generally: If you didn't create it, you don't own it. [ ALso, if the personage is recognizable and you're trying to make a buck, be prepared to get sued if you use it. Examples: Eminem, Brittany Spears etc.]
