Is sharing gossip considered the same as slander? i shared some information that i heard with another employee and they went to hr on me. can i lose my job over this?

You have asked two separate questions. Gossip is not necessarily slander. Truth is a defense to slander. Therefore, if the local news (gossip) is true, it cannot be slander.

Regardless of whether the information shared is true or false, you are probably an employee at will. As a result, with few exceptions, you can be fired for any reason, even if the reason is stupid.
