Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

Effect on rental agreement upon sale of house

My son who is in college shares a rental house with two roommates. The landlord has recently sold the property and the new landlord has communicated that the rental rate for each of the tenants will go up $50 per month starting in January in a 12 month lease that began in August. Is this ok or do they have some recourse?

Re: Effect on rental agreement upon sale of house

I haven't read the lease, but typically the new landlord can't raise the rates. The lease is a contract and must be honored by both parties.
