Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Georgia

I live at an apartment complex in Atlanta, Ga.

I feel like I am being harrased. This month I paid my rent on the 2nd, the latest you can pay your rent at this complex is the 3rd. I come home on the 4th and there is a letter under my door stating that I didnrt pay the full amount and I have to make the correct payment today. Per the letter I can make the payment with a check if it was my first late payment. My main issue is why did a get the notice on the 4th if I turned in my check on the 2nd. If they had given me the notice on the 3rd I could have made the correct payment and it wouldn't have been late. My second issue is when I went to the office to resolve the issue I was told that I couldn't make the payment with a personal check, that it had to be with a money order or cashiers check. I showed the employee the letter and he still said he wouldnt accept a personal check. The late fee was 50.00 at the time and would increases for each day I was late. I told him I had never been late on a payment and he refused to look it up. He short talked me and told me there was nothing he could do. This was about 5:40 pm, so I had to run to the closest store and get a money order before 6pm when office closed to avoid additional late charges. I few days later I get a note on my door stating that I am violating fire codes and apperance rules for have a work out bench on my porch. I watched the guy walk away after he placed the letter on my door and no one else was given one. My next door neighbor is nasty they have writings on there wall, a sheet as a curtain in one window and broken blinds in another. There porch has a bike some chairs and a propane tank on it. If this harassment, then what is?

It appears from your story that you paid the full amount of your rent late, and are violating the rules and/or fire code. Of course it is not "harassment" that they expect you to honor your obligations and comply with the rules. You don't have a legal issue, and there is a very easy way to avoid the problems.
