Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

I have an attorney that is representing me in an auto accident. This has been an on going process (nearly two years) and she is acting so unconcerned of my medical problems. Her answer is WELL I AM NOT A DOCTOR so I can't answer your problems. Can I terminate her or do I have to keep her???

You need to discuss these issues with her. If you hire another lawyer, you like will owe her something -- but we don't have your fee agreement. She is right - your lawyer is not a doctor and it is not the lawyer's job to be your doctor.

You can always fire a lawyer like you can with any other vendor (plumber, real estate agent, etc.) but you have to pay for the services of the lawyer up to the time of discharge. That can be complicated. In my experience usually such a disagreement is because of lack of communication. You should make an appointment, go see the lawyer and tell her how you feel. You should try to work this out. Be fair. Also, the lawyer and Mr. Riddle are right. The lawyer is not a doctor. She cannot cure your medical problems.Sometimes clients call the lawyer "just to talk" because they want to be sure the lawyer understands the medical problems facing the client. If every client did that and the lawyer talked to all of them, the lawyer would not have time to get any work done. I ask my clients to write me a letter periodically. That way I can also put it into the file for future reference.
