Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Eviction possible

I am haveing a hard time coming up with my rent and may get evicted this month. I was told that if I were then they could sue me for the remaining 5 months on my lease. Is it that correct that I loose my home and get sued?

Re: Eviction possible

Yes, that is a possibility. Many individuals have a better opportunity to make their rental payments after they receive their income tax refund after the first of the year. If this may be a possibility in your case, then do everything that you can to come up with the rent and file your income tax as soon as possible after the first of the year. Sometimes local charitable organizations will assist you with a one time need, so you may want to explore that option.

Unfortunately, that is a possibility. A lease is a contract. The landlord agrees to provide you the premises, and you agree to pay rent for the lease term. If either party does not meet his/her obligations, he/she can be sued.
