Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

This person asked me to hold onto his watch as collateral for a $75 loan. while his watch was in my possession it was stolen. I explained to him that it was out of my control and that I lost out on this situation too because I was never paid back. I told him to report the watch stolen to the police and if whoever stole it tries to pawn or sell it then they will get in trouble and he will get his property back. He said that he is not going to report the watch stolen and that he is going to take me to court.. Does he have a case?

Maybe. Maybe not. You decided to leave out all facts about how it allegedly came to be stolen.

You left out the important facts (how it got "stolen"). But if you were holding it you were presumably liable for it and he likely has a case against you - either civil for teh value of the watch or criminal if he thinks you made up the stolen part.
