If my children's grandmother passed away and their father (her son) passed away last year, does my oldest child have to be there when they read the will and does my children get what was left to their father in the will?

No one HAS to be at the reading. As to what your children will get, if anything, that depends on the wording of BOTH wills. Consult with a local attorney.
