Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia

new will destroyed or hidden

We suspect that my late mother-in-law's most recent will was stolen and either destroyed or hidden by one of her children, so the old one was used. What is the penalty for this if it can be proven? She died two years ago, but her estate has not been settled yet.

Re: new will destroyed or hidden

You should contact a local attorney. If someone destroyed the original will, he/she could be charged with a crime.

Re: new will destroyed or hidden

Such action would be fraud and the child could be sued civilly and charges pressed against him/her.
