verbal contracts in florida

I understand that in the state of florida that there is no such thing as a verbal contract? Is this a true statement or was I given wrong information?

It depends on the type of contract. Some verbal contracts are enforecable and others are not. For instance, a verbal agreement to purchase real estate is generally unenforecable. In order to enforce an agreement over real property, the contract must be in writing. It depends on the nature of the contract.

You engage in verbal contracts every day, and they are enforceable. If you are in business and there are significant consequences. what could it hurt for you to prepare and sign a simple agreement?
