Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Illinois

Discharged Debt in a Bankruptcy

I filed for Bankruptcy in 2003. I was sent a Debtor Discharge along with a Certificate of Service. The Debtor in question was listed as being included in this Bankruptcy and is still coming after me for this money. How do I know if this debt was actually discharged? Would I have been notified by the courts if they were exempt?

Re: Discharged Debt in a Bankruptcy

What kind of debt was it? There are some debts that even if they are listed are not able to be discharged by a bankruptcy. Did you use an attorney when you filed the bankruptcy? If so I would contact your attorney. Perhaps the creditor is not aware of your bankruptcy or the discharge, if that is the case then send them a copy of your discharge.
