Re: civil suit

The important questions you must answer in order to know how to file a suit in DuPage County are: (1) what are the claims about which I am suing; and (2) for how much money am I suing.

If it is a small amount, you would file in small claims court, and the clerk will help guide you through the process. If larger amounts are at stake, then you could sue in courts of higher jurisdictional amounts. If you are seeking a remedy other than money, such as injunctive relief, there is yet another division in which to sue.

The DuPage County clerk could tell you where to go or, if your matter is more "significant," such that an attorney would want to take it, the attorney would also take care of the filing, etc.
