Slip and fall

A friend slipped and fell at work. He injured his knee in the accident at work. He had injured the same knee ten years prior to this accident in high school. The injury at work further injuried the knee and it has caused a hair line fracture in the knee. He has had to go for medical treatment due to the injury which occured at work. Does he still have a right to claim workmans composition do to the injury?
