Legal Question in Technology Law in Illinois

Hello,

I would like to set up a website with pictures someone else has sent to me on my cell phone. Is this legal? Also, if there are pics of adult nature, how do I protect minors from seeing it? Please help on the legalities. Am I allowed to post these pics on myspace or facebook? If everything I write on teh site is true, am I protected from lawsuits?

Not legal unless you have permission from the person who sent them to you. Otherwise, it is likely copyright infringement. You protect against minors seeing it by having a registration system that does not allow minors to register, but that is not a legal question so go somewhere other than lawguru for an answer to that question. See the first sentence for the answer re myspace or facebook. No, truth does not protect you. Truthful copyright infringement is still copyright infringement. You do not get a free pass to steal just because you are truthful about being a thief. Same thing for copyright infringers, who are really just thieves of copyrighted material.
