Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

an associate of our family stole my wallet in the process of taking me home. he had asked if i wanted to get anything from stores in area and i had used my card to make several purchases. after a few days, i received a few calls from my bank and credit card company concerning suspecious activity. the results financially was thousands charged including bogus card purchases, fradualent check deposits/withdrawals, new accounts opened in my name, etc. this was in nov'2004 and i am currently being harrassed, accounts charged off from trying to recover funds, and a messed up credit score. my police report is incorrect and make it seem like me and this criminal was friends hanging out. can u help me please?
